The Glencourse Landscape Committee has been formed and it is led by former Board president, John Botts.
The request for the formation and participation of community residents of a landscape committee was determined at the May 12, 2015 board meeting due to general concerns about how a landscaping plan and installation would be completed. As a result, the board moved to establish a committee of 3-5 residents, led by John Botts. The final landscape committee was formed in June 2015. The landscape committee in tandem with our management company, TWC, proceeded to draft the initial Request for Proposal (RFP) for a landscape design and installation initiative in a competitive bidding process. After review by the board, TWC issued the RFP to a list of prospective vendors. There were 4 vendors who responded to the RFP: Brickman (our current landscaping service), Sunrise Landscape & Design, Magee Design and Meridian Landscaping. Of the 4 vendors, Sunrise, Brickman and Magee responded to the RFP with conceptual designs for the board to review. The committee met with the remaining three vendors then proceeded to rate them against the requirements in the RFP. Subsequently, the committee recommended Magee Design and presented their analysis and recommendation to the board at the Feb. 22, 2016 board meeting.
So where are we now in the process?
Here's the latest update from the landscape committee:
Since last year, the Board of Directors and Landscape Committee have been busy identifying priority areas and criteria for beautifying the cluster landscape. After developing a scope of work, a request for proposal was issued and bids were reviewed. The Board and the Committee are now pleased to announce the selection of Magee Design for the first phase of the landscape project. John Magee, the company’s founder, offered his vision for the cluster landscape, during his bid presentation. Mr. Magee will be presenting the design for three priority cluster areas at a community feedback meeting on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The meeting will be held at 2 – 4 pm at Reston Community Center Hunters Woods, which located at 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston.
